Many of us love the idea of going to other places for our vacation. It would be nice to go to multiple places and see many beautiful spots around on just one vacation period. When you travel, one of the most important questions is if the water is safe to drink wherever you are. However, if your destination of choice is Costa Rica, the drinking water there is fine, so you can be assured that it is safe to drink the water. Having been to this beautiful country myself last year, I can understand your anxiety. They were mine too. I did some research on the internet before I went as well. Also when I arrived, everyone assured me the water was safe, but even in the hotel, bottled water was offered. I decided to drink the local water and didn't regret it at all. I felt quite at home. Of course, if I went out for the day, I took bottled water as it was more convenient. I had no ill effects whatsoever.
In this Central American paradise, all water is of good quality, not just the drinking water! The oceans and lakes here are clean and of pristine quality, unlike many other destinations in our world today. The country is extremely eco-friendly and their tourism depends on this fact. You can swim and play in the Pacific and/or Caribbean, depending which coast you are near, and the water is clear and wonderfully warm. Mostly better than at home. A great tourist destination is Arenal which has an active volcano to its credit, as well as mountains and rainforests. Here you will find incredible thermal hot springs. In the area there are at least eleven different hot springs and indeed some of them have not just one pool but many, often with varying temperatures. Just imagine soaking in nature's hot tub surrounding by beautiful trees, plants, flowers and colorful birds and even monkeys, if you are lucky. Sometimes you can find these hot springs on their own, or they can be part of a hotel.

Today we start our journey north towards Paris in a few days time. First stop is Cannes home of the film festival and one of the most prestigious of the French Riviera resorts. Until you have walked along the harbor front and seen first hand the size of the motor yachts some people around the world own, its hard to imagine the size of them.
A number of people took advantage of the fact that the red carpet was out at the film festival hall and took some celebrity photos. There was time for a coffee and generally just enjoy a beautiful morning.
After rejoining the motorway our drive brought us into the Maritime Alps on our way to Avignon. This a beautiful and historically important walled city built on the Rhone River in Provence. It was the home of the Popes for over half a century in the 1300's. After the popes left here it laid the foundations for enormous unrest and the great schism of the church.
We walked to the Papal Palace and Notre Dame and then on to the main square with its Christmas markets for time to have lunch and do a little shopping.
A big drive this afternoon north to Lyon at the point where the Saone and Rhone rivers converge. It is the second larges city in France and a major commercial center. Despite that it is quite a beautiful city and after an orientation we made our way to the hotel for dinner.
The grand finale in Paris is our goal today as we travel north from Lyon. First stop today is Beaune a charming little Burgundian village once the capitol of Burgundy. Unfortunately with sub zero temperatures and sleat coming down we took a vote and decided with many sick people it might note be in everyones best interests so we kept going towards Paris.
From here we travel through the heart of Burgundy and I talk about a number things like. French wines, regional and Haute cuisine, canal systems farming and more. Lunch is on the Autoroute on our way.
We arrive at Versille at 2.15 and meet our local guide Jocelyne who will also be with us for our full day in Paris. Versille is one of the worlds great buildings. For those folks not going with Jocelyne we make our way to the hotel to check in and drop off the bags.
We return to collect the people who have done the tour of Versilles and make our way to the hotel for a well earned rest in what is one of my favorite Paris hotels.
Tonight we have reserved seats for the Moulin Rouge cabaret and believe me it never disappoints. Dinner is OK, the service is OK, but the show is fantastic and the hottest thing in Paris. On the way out there are another 800 people waiting in the cold to get in for the 11pm show.

Considered as one of the most intriguing historical capitals in the world, Delhi is a city that is bustling with activity at any given time of the day. The attractions are numerous and to discover this part of Asia is to walk through history.
Delhi can be divided into the Old and the New. The old city has monuments like mosques, and forts which are of immense historical value. Of these the old Red Fort is by far the most popular. The New city, designed by architects Baker and Lutyens is a modern metropolis housing most of the embassies and government departments. In terms of global significance Delhi is one of the eight largest cities in the world in terms of its population.
As early as the 6th century, Delhi placed along the River Yamuna has been inhabited by various nationalities and tribes from Europe to Asia. The city due to its unique position in days of old was able to develop trade routes from the northwest and the Indo plains. Today, it is the commercial and cultural hub of India.
India Gate or the Gateway to India is a popular landmark in the city. Positioned along Rajpath Avenue, it is a memorial to brave Indian soldiers that passed away during Afghan and World War I. While the walls of the monument are inscribed with the names of the soldiers, the shrine in the middle resembles that of a gun resting upwards, with a soldier’s helmet resting at the top.
A sight of beauty is the Laxaminarayan Temple. During the religious festival of Janmashtami day - considered as the day Lord Krishna was born, many flock to the Laxaminarayan Temple, or better known as the Nila Mandir. The temple consists of beautiful water fountains which add to the spiritual atmosphere of the place.
Next on the to-do-list is to pay a visit to Qutb Minar set in the south of the city. It was built by Delhi’s one time ruler the Qutb-ud-din Aibak, in 1206. The structure is a basic reddish sand stone coloured tower that stands at over 70 meters. The tower is inscribed with holy verses from the Quran. During Aibak’s rule the tower served as a reminder of Muslim domination, it also served as a muezzin which would call the people to prayer. In terms of historical value this monument was perhaps the first that was built by a Muslim ruler, and with it came a new culture and art form that would influence the architecture of that period, more commonly known as Indo Islamic architecture.
Coming to another century, it was in the 1600s that emperor Shah Jahan decided to transfer the capital to Delhi. And just like that, in eight years the Red Fort was brought to life and still exists today as one of the amazing marvels in India. Although the Fort and its architectural work suffered at the hands of the British, during their occupation of India, its main structure is still intact.
The extent of attractions and things to see in Delhi is so vast that a couple weeks would be needed to actually sample the culture of this amazing Asian giant. Mumbai has lived upto the reputation for which it was established. It is a city built by the residents of the city. Mumbai is more than a cosmopolitan made of concrete buildings.
Mumbai was given by Portuguese as dowry to Charles II of England when he married Catherine. The group of seven island was leased to the East India Company who offered freedom of business and religion to persons who came and settled here. Initially a few Parsis and Gujarati came but soon a sizeable population began to thrive here.

Mumbai's famous beach is no place for a sunbathe or a dip. In fact, there's not much going on at Chowpatty at all during the day, but in the evening it develops a magical atmosphere as locals come to stroll among the balloon sellers, nut vendors and beach entertainers. Eating bhelpuri at the collection of garishly lit stalls on the edge of the beach at night is an essential part of the Mumbai experience, as is getting a vigorous massage from a malish-wallah. Chowpatty is a great place to witness the annual Ganesh Chaturthi Festival in August/September when large images of the elephant-headed god are immersed in the murky sea.

The colourful indoor Crawford Market (or Phule Market) is the last outpost of British Bombay before the tumult of the central bazaars begins. It used to be the city's wholesale produce market before this was strategically moved to New Bombay. Today it's where central Mumbai goes shopping for its fruit, vegetables and meat.Bas reliefs by Rudyard Kipling's father, Lockwood Kipling, adorn the Norman-Gothic exterior, and an ornate fountain he designed stands buried beneath old fruit boxes at the market's centre.

The extravagant Victorian gothic buildings in the Fort area reinforce the European roots of the city, and send shivers of recognition down the spines of visitors from the industrial cities of northern England. This lively area occupies the site of the old British built fort and is the established commercial centre of Mumbai. T the city's most exuberant Gothic building, looks more like a lavishly decorated cathedral or palace than anything as mundane as a transportation depot. Carvings of peacocks, gargoyles, monkeys, elephants and British lions are mixed up among the buttresses, domes, turrets, spires and stained-glass windows. One of the many roles of VOSA: The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency, is to monitor and grade coach hire companies on their potential safety. Ok it sounds dry, but you need to know about this government body if you want to get hold of up-to-date coach hire safety information. This agencies mission is to save lives, cut crime, protect the environment, value people, and deliver value for money. No small endeavor, and wrapped up in all of this mission statement is passenger safety. So what constitutes a safe coach?
VOSA, a government agency is responsible for maintaining up to date data on all PSV, Public Service Vehicles. Public Service Vehicles include coach hire vehicles as coaches carry passengers for an agreed cost. Coaches fall into the category of Large Public Service vehicles as they can carry more than eight passengers. To be able to drive a coach, the driver needs to be in possession of a valid PSV license. In order to legally operate a coach, the coach owner must have obtained an appropriate and valid license for the coach and in addition, the coach must be registered as a PSV vehicle.
The onus is on the coach hire operator to have valid documents. Registering a coach with the vehicle licensing department will instigate a record of the coach being transferred to VOSA. A sophisticated administration of quality checks at all levels of this monitoring system have had to be put into place in order to insure the quality of the information held on each coach, coach owner and all of his/her employees is correct and up-to-date.
The reason so much care has to be taken in recording and monitoring coaches and coach operators is due to the very nature of the industry. The coaches will require routine maintenance, the safety of a vehicle one year will not guarantee its' road-worthiness 6months later. A good reliable coach driver on year may develop health problems the next, and so on.
The whole area of coach safety and the assessment of this complex issue is by its' very nature, thwart with difficulties. What factors to consider when making this assessment has been debated between information analysts', transport experts and transport providers for decades. In 2002 when the overseeing body, VOSA was given its' overall powers of administering and enforcing standards for coach hire companies. In addition they are instrumental in the development of safety standards. These standards need to be disseminated to coach hire operatives. VOSA and agencies working for the organization are then responsible for assessing and ultimately, enforcing these standards, and ultimately feeding data back to the overall agency.

Within this were changes to the way in which both bus and coach drivers are required to qualify for their license.
